Lot 579: An Art Glass Oil Lamp and a Pair of Antique Rimless Spectacles
A hand-blown art glass oil lamp, likely mid-20th century in origin. The piece features a globular reservoir decorated with internal variegated swirls of amber-brown and opaque white glass, fitted with a brass wick holder and a cotton wick. The reservoir is supported by a spirally-twisted opaque white glass pedestal stem, which terminates in a circular spreading clear glass foot featuring internal white concentric bands. Accompanying the lamp is a pair of late 19th or early 20th-century rimless spectacles. These spectacles consist of oval glass lenses secured by a delicate gold-tone wire frame, featuring a saddle bridge and flexible wrap-around cable temples. The lot includes an original period hardshell case with a red velvet-lined interior; the inner lid shows remnants of gilt lettering beginning with the word The.
