Lot 590: Two Volumes comprising The Times Atlas of the World. The Folio Society, and Tiger Tim's Annual. 1949.
A collection of two disparate volumes. The first is a folio edition of The Times Atlas of the World: Comprehensive Edition, published by The Folio Society. The volume is bound in publisher’s dark blue buckram with gilt lettering and decorative motifs to the spine, featuring the Folio Society imprint at the tail. It is housed in a matching dark blue cloth-covered slipcase which bears a hand-written identification label and an auction lot sticker. The internal contents consist of large-format colour plates, including Plate 51 depicting Denmark and Southern Sweden. The second item is Tiger Tim’s Annual for the year 1949. This quarto volume is bound in pictorial boards with a maroon cloth spine. The front cover features a colour illustration of the character Tiger Tim as Sindbad Tim the Sailor. The internal pages contain black and white illustrations and stories featuring Tiger Tim and the Bruin Boys.
