Lot 611: A Collection of Vintage and Antique Wooden Playing Card Boxes and an Imperial Mantel Clock
A collection comprising two wooden playing card boxes, playing cards, and a carriage-style mantel clock. The first box is finished in burr wood veneer with a marquetry inlay depicting two birds, likely swallows, on the lid, and contains a twin-compartment interior. The second box is a hardwood container with brass corner reinforcements and stringing, featuring a central brass inlay depicting three playing cards on the lid. This box holds two decks of playing cards with blue and green patterned backs. The mantel clock is an Imperial brand quartz clock, housed in a carriage-style wood and brass frame with a top handle and spherical brass feet. The gold-finish dial displays Roman numerals and is marked Imperial, Quartz, and Made in England. The lot includes loose playing cards, specifically the Nine of Diamonds and the Queen of Clubs.
