Lot 647: A German Schramberg Style Relief-Moulded Majolica Wall Plate
A large circular earthenware wall plate or charger, decorated in high relief with a scene depicting a rural Black Forest mountain chalet. The central motif features a two-storey timber-framed cottage with a steeply pitched thatched roof and white-washed ground floor. The cottage is set within a landscape of coniferous and deciduous trees, with a stone bridge over a stream in the foreground and mountains under a cloudy sky in the background. The piece is finished with hand-applied coloured glazes in the majolica style. The reverse of the plate is printed in black with the word Foreign and the number 15, and features an impressed mark of 454 to the centre.
