Lot 660: An Assortment of Staffordshire Indian Tree Pattern Earthenware Dinnerware
A partial dinner service featuring the traditional Indian Tree floral pattern on a cream-coloured ground. The decoration comprises a transfer-printed design with hand-painted overglaze highlights in shades of pink, blue, and green. The central motif depicts a gnarled, blossoming tree, enclosed by a geometric fretwork border punctuated with floral cartouches. The collection includes a lidded vegetable tureen, an oval serving platter, a large circular serving platter, and multiple stacks of dinner plates, dessert plates, and side plates. This pattern was a staple production of numerous British potteries in the Staffordshire region from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. The ceramic type is glazed earthenware, likely ironstone. No factory marks are visible on the undersides of the items shown.
