Lot 762: A mid-20th-century white-painted five-drawer chest of drawers
A mid-20th-century chest of drawers of simple, functional design. The tallboy configuration comprises five full-width drawers with flat fronts. The exterior is currently finished in a heavy white paint. Internal drawer components, including sides and bottoms, are constructed from plywood with a prominent grain, and the drawers are assembled using nailed or stapled joints rather than traditional dovetails. The back of the carcass is formed of five vertical solid wood planks with a dark brown stain. The unit is fitted with ten flared conical knobs, also finished in white, and stands on a slightly recessed plinth base. No manufacturer marks are present; visible labels are temporary auction house lotting tags.
