Lot 846: A Group of Four Victorian Occasional Chairs plus an additional wooden bar stool
A group of four Victorian and early 20th-century occasional chairs of varying designs. The lot includes a side chair with a mahogany-toned finish, featuring a broad curved top rail above five turned spindles and an inset traditional cane-work seat. A second side chair is characterised by a perforated wooden seat with a circular pattern and a backrest composed of two curved horizontal slats accented with white circular inlays at the joinery points. Two further chairs are upholstered in red velvet or velour; one is a balloon-back style with a curved top rail and turned side supports, while the other features a similar curved top rail and is upholstered on both the seat and back, with the reverse of the back finished in a pink textured fabric. The chairs are constructed from various stained hardwoods using turned spindle and dowel construction. One chair back bears a handwritten adhesive label reading 4 x VICTORIAN OCCASIONAL CHAIRS 13. The chairs also carry printed auction lot stickers for Liskeard Auction Rooms Lot 846.
