Lot 868: A Pair of Ercol High-Back Wing Armchairs
A pair of Ercol high-back wing armchairs dating from the mid to late 20th century. The chairs are constructed with solid wood frames, likely beech or elm, finished in a dark-stained varnish. The design features a shaped arched top rail, wingback sides, and integrated padded armrests. The frames are supported by turned front and rear legs, connected by a box stretcher for stability. Both chairs have been re-upholstered in a textured magenta or deep pink fabric. The high backs feature six-button tufting, and the upholstery is finished with contrasting dark grey or forest green piping along the seams and on the tufted buttons. A paper label attached to the frame contains handwritten text identifying the maker as Ercol and stating the upholstery is new. A second printed paper label is present from Liskeard Auction Rooms.
