Lot 286: Singer Model 28 Hand-Crank Sewing Machine with Wooden Case
An antique portable hand-crank sewing machine manufactured by the Singer Manufacturing Company. The machine head is constructed from cast iron with a black japanned finish, decorated with the gold-coloured Sphinx (also known as Memphis) decal pattern. The name SINGER is visible in gold-toned lettering along the main arm. This machine features a vibrating shuttle mechanism and is a 3/4 size model, consistent with the Singer Model 28 series. It is mounted on a wooden base and is accompanied by its original domed wooden carrying cover, often referred to as a coffin-style case, which features a metal handle.
