Lot 297: Droysen, G. Allgemeiner Historischer Handatlas. Verlag von Velhagen & Klasing, 1886.
A folio-sized German historical atlas titled Professor G. Droysens Allgemeiner Historischer Handatlas in sechsundneunzig Karten mit erläuterndem Text. Published in 1886 by Verlag von Velhagen & Klasing, Bielefeld and Leipzig, under the direction of Dr Richard Andree. The volume contains ninety-six colour lithographed maps with accompanying text, including plates such as Karten zur Griechischen Geschichte and Reich Alexanders des Grossen. The title page bears handwritten ownership inscriptions, including Emily Ross. Also included is a small black leather-bound prayer book with a gilt-stamped cross on the front cover. The collection is further comprised of an assortment of horological items: a wooden-cased mantel clock with a silvered dial and Arabic numerals; a square wooden clock dial marked West Germany 131 0141; and multiple loose brass mechanical clock movements and components, some stored in a repurposed margarine tub and a glass preserve jar.
