Lot 426: Three Plush Teddy Bears including The Boyds Collection and Thornbury Examples
This lot comprises three plush teddy bears of varying styles and sizes. The largest is a honey-coloured bear with long-pile synthetic fur, featuring a blue stitched nose and pink fabric paw pads. It wears a brown and orange plaid ribbon bow and carries original fabric labels for The Boyds Collection Ltd, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, dating between 1985 and 1995. The bear is constructed from acrylic fibre and filled with polypropylene pellets. The second bear is a smaller example with tan-coloured curly sherpa-style fur, a brown and white checkered bow, and printed paw-print details on the soles of the feet. It is labelled for Thornbury by Buss Berry and Co. Inc., a distributor based in the Midlands, UK. The third item is a medium-sized bear in an aviator costume, including a dark green faux-leather jacket with cream fleece lining and a matching aviator cap with a chin strap and red ribbon tie. No manufacturer marks are legible on this third item. One bear is accompanied by an auction tag from Liskeard Auction Rooms for Lot 426.
