Lot 660: Pine nine-drawer merchant's chest in the apothecary style
A late 20th-century pine multi-drawer merchant’s chest, also known as an apothecary cabinet, designed in a traditional rustic style with a honey-coloured stained finish. The primary wood is pine, with pine secondary wood used for the drawer sides and a thin hardboard or plywood for the drawer bases. The chest features a graduated nine-drawer configuration arranged in three vertical columns: a left column of four small drawers, a centre column of three medium drawers, and a right column of two large drawers. Each drawer is fitted with an antiqued metal cup pull handle. The construction is modern mass-produced, with drawers assembled using pinned or stapled joints. The item bears a Liskeard Auction Rooms lot label (660) and a pink inventory sticker (32).
Width: 34 inches (86 cm).
