Buyer's Premium:

A late 19th or early 20th-century stained pine Smoker’s Bow armchair, also commonly referred to as a Captain’s chair. This classic English vernacular piece features a broad, curved, wrap-around crest rail and out-swept arms supported by seven turned spindles. The chair has a solid, shaped saddle seat with visible wood grain and natural knots characteristic of pine. It is supported by four stout, turned legs joined by a traditional H-frame stretcher. The construction utilises standard spindle-and-socket joinery. There are two labels affixed to the reverse of the back rail: a printed white auction sticker for Liskeard Auction Rooms (Lot 723) and a handwritten cream-coloured label inscribed in black ink with Item 162 and £10.
