Lot 739: Antique Dutch Revival Repousse Brass Clad Wooden Coal Box
An antique Dutch Revival style wooden storage box, traditionally used for coal or kindling, featuring an embossed brass-clad exterior. The wooden frame is completely covered in thin brass sheets secured with small brass pins. The lid and front panel are decorated in a repousse style with scenes depicting figures in early modern tavern or domestic settings. The side panels display a repeating punched geometric pattern of squares and dots. The interior consists of dark, unlined aged wood. The lid is attached with two brass butt hinges and includes a metal retaining chain. A modern auction label for Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on the lid.
