Lot 9: A Collection of Vintage Engineering Measurement Tools and Machinery's Handbook
An assortment of vintage British engineering instruments and reference materials. The collection includes a hardcover edition of Machinery’s Handbook. Precision tools feature an outside micrometer with a 0-1 inch range and 0.001-inch graduations, finished with a blue hammered frame and housed in a fitted plastic case with an adjustment wrench. Also included is a vernier caliper presented in a blue velvet-lined fitted case. The lot contains a black bakelite case by Matrix (Coventry Gauge & Tool Co Ltd), embossed with the company logo and marked with codes including 43/53T/10, 45/53M/10, and SP44/BA5/AU. Tooling comprises a small wooden chest containing several high-speed steel lathe tool bits, including one stamped Jessop Sheff for William Jessop & Sons, Sheffield, and a rectangular metal gauge block showing significant surface oxidation. Additional items include a cardboard box with repeated James Neill (Sheffield) Limited branding.
