Lot 377: A Group of Commemorative and Decorative Ceramic Plates including Michael Jackson and Spode Copeland
This lot features an assortment of decorative and commemorative ceramic plates and saucers. Included is a Michael Jackson commemorative plate (1958-2009), decorated with a montage of iconic performance images against a star-flecked blue background and finished with a gilded rim. This item is contained within a cardboard shipping box bearing a previous auction label. The collection contains several pieces of Spode Copeland tea ware in the Summer Days pattern (S.3304), characterised by a strawberry and wildflower motif on a white ground with a pale blue border. The bases feature a brown printed backstamp for Copeland Spode, England. Also included is a selection of landscape plates produced by Royal Vale, a brand of Ridgway Potteries Ltd. These white plates feature scalloped, gilded rims and central transfer-printed scenes of rural cottages and gardens. A further large decorative plate features a nursery-themed illustration of a teddy bear in a rocking chair, bordered by the repeating text THE MOON SEES ME AND THE MOON I SEE.
