Lot 484: A Pair of Mid-20th Century Articulated Wooden Shoe Lasts and a Cobbler's Burnishing Tool
This lot consists of a pair of articulated wooden shoe lasts and a shoemaker’s hand tool. The shoe lasts are carved from hardwood and feature a hinged construction designed for ease of use during the shoemaking process. The soles are fitted with protective metal plates secured by multiple flat-head screws. One last is incised with the characters 9 / 65, the number 8, and the letters L P P. Each last includes a circular mounting hole in the heel. The accompanying cobbler’s burnishing tool features a T-shaped cast metal head with curved faces, mounted into a turned wooden handle. The tool is labelled with a lot tag for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 484.
