Estimated price: £40 - £60

Buyer's Premium:

A single 20th century rustic vernacular armchair of substantial construction, likely composed of solid hardwoods including oak and elm. The chair features a high backrest with a broad central splat containing three square-cut piercings. This central element is flanked by two substantial, naturally curved uprights that flow forward to form the armrests. The assembly utilizes prominent mortise and tenon joinery, with visible inset dark rectangular wedges securing the joints at the arm and seat rails. The seat consists of several tapered boards arranged in a radiating slatted pattern. The piece exhibits a primitive, sculptural form suggesting hand-crafted production or the use of reclaimed timber. A contemporary auction tag from Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on the upper back.
