Lot 713: Vintage British No. 35 Hand-Crank Cast Iron Sewing Machine
This vintage hand-cranked sewing machine features a black-finished cast iron body mounted on a rectangular wooden plinth base. The machine is identified by gold-coloured lettering on the arm reading No 35 and the word BRITISH cast in relief on the rear of the frame. A shield-shaped metal badge is affixed to the front pillar, depicting an eagle with outstretched wings. The mechanical assembly includes a large spoked hand-wheel and a hand-crank mechanism with a turned wooden handle. A stitch length adjustment lever with a numbered scale from 0 to 6 is located on the arm. The unit is fitted with a metal bed plate containing two sliding access panels. Two handwritten paper labels are present on the bed plate, one of which notes the machine as being in working condition, alongside a Liskeard Auction Rooms lot sticker numbered 713.
