Lot 831: A 19th Century George III Style Mahogany Pedestal Desk
A 19th century style mahogany and mahogany-veneered twin-pedestal desk. The rectangular top features an inset maroon leatherette writing surface with a gilt-tooled border. The desk is designed with a central kneehole, currently lacking its central frieze drawer or slide. The left-hand pedestal contains three drawers, and the right-hand pedestal houses four graduated drawers. All drawer fronts are fitted with brass swan-neck handles on decorative shaped backplates and matching brass escutcheons. The pedestals are raised on bracket feet. The drawers are constructed with solid wood secondary timbers and hand-cut dovetail joints.
