Lot 130: A large contemporary glazed ceramic garden planter with fluted decoration
A large contemporary circular garden planter of tapered form, constructed from a heavy earthenware or terracotta body. The exterior features a moulded decorative scheme of vertical fluted or petal-like motifs with pointed terminals. The vessel is finished in a multi-tonal reactive drip glaze, exhibiting variegated shades of teal, blue, and brown over a dark ground, while the thick rounded rim is finished in a contrasting solid dark brown glaze. The interior remains unglazed, revealing the natural orange colour of the clay, and the base contains two circular drainage holes. No manufacturer’s marks are present; a handwritten label to the rim identifies the item as a large green and blue glazed pot.
