Lot 340: A Mid-Century Modern Nine-Light Ice Glass Flush Mount Ceiling Fixture
This mid-century modern flush-mount ceiling fixture features a square polished chrome-plated base plate supporting a set of nine thick-walled clear glass shades. The shades are arranged in a three-by-three grid and are executed in a Brutalist style with a heavy, textured ice or glacier moulded pattern designed to refract light. The construction is characteristic of European lighting design from the 1960s and 1970s, and is in the style of manufacturers such as Peill and Putzler or Kaiser Leuchten. The fixture is fitted with nine small bi-pin sockets, currently containing several modern LED replacement bulbs. The item retains two paper labels: one from Liskeard Auction Rooms identifying the piece as Lot 340, and a smaller adhesive label with the handwritten number 3028. No manufacturer marks or embossed stamps are visible on the base or glass elements.
