Lot 390: A Collection of Late Victorian and Later Decorative Ceramics including a Cheese Dish
A group of decorative and domestic ceramics of mixed manufacture. Included is an earthenware cheese dish of traditional wedge form, the cover and base featuring a floral transfer-print pattern of pink and yellow blossoms on a cream-coloured ground, topped with an ornate moulded handle. A scenic cabinet plate depicts a cathedral spire, likely Salisbury, within a gilded border. The lot further contains an Art Deco style square plate with a pale yellow ground and stylised orange flowers, and a white ceramic vessel bearing the Royal Crest backstamp with a crown device. Additional items include various decorative plates and bowls with floral and scrolled borders, and teaware including a cup with a pink-glazed interior. These pieces utilise a variety of techniques including transfer-printing, hand-tinting, and gilding.
