Lot 451: A Set of Japanese Style Lustreware Tea and Coffee Service Items
A set of ceramic tea and coffee service items, featuring a shaded apricot lustre glaze with polychrome floral transfers depicting chrysanthemums and other blossoms. The collection comprises a tall coffee or chocolate pot with lid, a teapot with lid, a cream jug, an open bowl, and several teacups and saucers. Each piece is designed with a deep cobalt blue base and rim, embellished with gilt scrolling filigree and borders. The hollowware pieces feature scrolled handles and pedestal-style feet. The decoration and form are highly characteristic of Japanese export lustreware from the early to mid-20th century. No manufacturer’s marks are visible on the undersides of the items.
