Lot 495: An Aynsley Art Deco Bone China Butterfly Handle Tea Trio a/f
A bone china tea trio manufactured by Aynsley in England, comprising a teacup, saucer, and side plate. The set is designed in an Art Deco style with scalloped, petal-form rims finished with gilded edges. The decoration features a pale green and white wash pattern radiating from the centres of the pieces. The teacup is notable for its handle, which is modelled in the form of a butterfly and hand-painted in shades of green with orange and dark green accents. The base of the teacup bears a green printed maker’s mark with a crown above an Aynsley banner, including the text Bone China, England, and the registration number 765789, which dates the design to circa 1931. The mark also includes the statement As Supplied to H.M. The Queen. A hand-painted pattern number B-1322 is present in red script.
