Lot 500: Matador Vintage Portable Suitcase Valve Radio
A mid-century Matador portable valve radio housed in a suitcase-style case. The exterior is covered in a two-tone textured fabric with a cream lid and a reddish-brown patterned body, featuring a matching top-mounted carrying handle. The interior control panel is finished in cream and fitted with three brown knobs with gold-tone centres, marked for volume, tuning, and a selector switch for Long, Off, and Medium wavebands. The central tuning dial lists various British and European stations, including London, Welsh, Scottish, North, Midland, West, Light, Third, and Luxembourg. The rear compartment contains the internal chassis with vacuum tubes and a period Ever Ready Radio Battery B141. A printed circuit schematic diagram is adhered to the inside of the rear cover.
