A boxed Hornby OO gauge electric model train set titled The Christmas Special, model number R 1046. The set includes a Hornby 0-4-0 steam-style locomotive in a red livery with Hornby branding, and rolling stock comprising a Christmas tree carrier with a green tree load, a 7-plank wagon with a parcel load, and a 4-wheel coach in a festive green and red livery. The set is supplied with a basic starter oval of track, a wall-plug transformer, a speed controller, and power connecting clips. The locomotive and rolling stock are constructed primarily from plastic with metal wheels and axles, while the track consists of metal rails on plastic sleepers. The box reverse provides an illustrated guide for expanding the layout using Hornby Track Packs A through E. Markings include the Hornby logo, model number R 1046, and the EAN barcode 5010963410469.
