Lot 552: An Assortment of Mid-Century Modern and Decorative Art Glass
An assortment of decorative art glass comprising various forms and techniques characteristic of mid-20th-century European production, particularly in the style of Murano. The collection features a large free-blown vessel of pulled form with several soaring points, showing a colour transition from an amber base to a deep red upper section, resembling the work of Cristallo Venezia. A heavy tri-lobed bowl or ashtray is worked in the sommerso technique, with an internal core of smoky grey and amber glass encased in a thick clear layer. Also included is a turquoise glass basket with a lobed body and an applied clear glass twisted overhead handle, which bears a tag numbered 11164. The assortment further contains a decorative goblet with a blue bowl and foot joined by a bright yellow knop, an emerald green glass bowl with a heavily lobed or crimped rim, and a small red glass dish with a pulled, flame-like rim. Completing the lot is a clear oval dish with a central red recessed well and two miniature scent bottles, one in clear glass with gold-toned accents and the other featuring an iridescent metallic finish with floral surface decoration.
