Lot 588: A 20th Century Folk Art Hand-Carved Wooden Walking Stick
A folk art walking stick carved from a single piece of stained hardwood. The shaft is decorated with a hand-carved spiralling serpent motif winding around the body, accented with dark recessed dots throughout the length of the snake. The handle is integral to the shaft and features turned-style bands and incised linear patterns. A circular hole is drilled through the neck of the handle for the attachment of a lanyard or wrist strap. The stick is fitted with a modern blue rubber ferrule at the tip. There are no visible maker marks, signatures, or hallmarks. A small white paper tag is attached to the handle but any text upon it is illegible.
