Lot 637: A Group of Art Deco Carlton Ware and Maling Lustre Earthenware
A group of British Art Deco lustre-glazed earthenware tableware, comprising a Carlton Ware sandwich set and several pieces of Maling pottery. The Carlton Ware items include a twin-handled rectangular sandwich tray and matching octagonal side plates, decorated with a hand-painted fruit pattern depicting plums and apples against a pearlescent ground, finished with a green foliate and geometric border. The Maling pieces consist of a bulbous vase, a scalloped oval dish, and a pair of small circular candlestick holders. These pieces feature embossed floral sprays, resembling the Clematis pattern, in shades of pink and green on a textured cream iridescent lustre ground. Identification is based on the handwritten auction lot description provided; no maker marks are visible in the photographs.
