Lot 654: Regency English Porcelain Imari Pattern Tea Cup and Saucer
An early 19th-century English porcelain tea cup and saucer, decorated in a rich Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron-red, and extensive gilding. The pattern features stylized vine leaves with gilt veining set against a tan-coloured stippled seaweed ground, interspersed with small iron-red floral sprigs. The cup is of the Regency London shape, characterised by a flared rim and a distinctive ring handle. The base of the cup is hand-painted with the pattern number 948 in iron-red, alongside a small blue painter’s tally mark and a maroon V-shaped mark. This specific pattern and form are closely attributed to the New Hall factory of Staffordshire, dating to approximately 1815-1825.
