Lot 659: Two Royal Doulton Cobalt Blue and Gilt Decorated Ceramic Items
A lot comprising two pieces of Royal Doulton ceramics finished in cobalt blue with gilt decoration. The first item is a bone china cabinet plate of circular form with a scalloped, lobed rim. It features a wide cobalt blue border with a gilded edge and a central white reserve decorated with a multi-coloured floral spray including a yellow rose and orange poppies. The base carries a green printed Royal Doulton backstamp featuring a lion and crown above a circular emblem with interlocking loops, marked England and Bone China, with an impressed number 15 and a small hand-painted blue mark. The second item is a miniature porcelain two-handled urn of ovoid shape with scroll handles and a flared rim. The body is decorated with a deep cobalt blue ground and raised gilding depicting stylized chrysanthemum patterns. The handles, rim, and foot are fully gilded. The base bears a green printed Royal Doulton factory mark with a central D and interlocking loops.
