Lot 71: A large contemporary glazed stoneware garden planter
A large contemporary glazed stoneware garden planter or pot of bulbous form with a wide, flared rolled rim. The exterior is finished in a deep chestnut brown glaze with iridescent qualities and blue-grey mottling concentrated around the rim. The interior and base are unglazed, showing a traditional red-clay body, and the base is pierced with a single central drainage hole. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the body or base of the item. The item bears a paper auction lot label printed Lot 071 and a handwritten descriptive tag which reads LARGE BROWN GLAZED POT, Res 15, and 3291.
