Lot 752: Vintage 35th Plymouth St Mary's Girl Guide Troop Flag and Pole
A mid-20th century Girl Guide troop flag and accompanying wooden pole. The flag is made from a light blue textile and features a central yellow trefoil emblem, which is the official symbol of the Girl Guides. The emblem contains two five-pointed stars and the letters G and G. The text 35TH PLYMOUTH is printed in yellow block lettering above the emblem, while (ST MARY’S) is printed below. The dark-stained wooden pole consists of two sections joined by a metal ferrule. It is topped with a cast metal trefoil finial, possibly brass or bronze-finished, featuring embossed G and G letters and a central star cutout. The reverse of the finial bears stamped marks that are not clearly legible. The finial is secured to the pole with aged cord.
