Lot 937: A Trio of Wooden Furniture Items comprising Two Side Chairs and a Set of Library Steps
A collection of three wooden furniture items, consisting of two side chairs and a set of steps. The first is a spindle-back kitchen chair in a late 19th to early 20th-century vernacular style, constructed with a traditional Windsor-influenced solid saddle-shaped elm seat and turned spindles, legs, and H-frame stretcher likely in ash or beech. The second item is a late Victorian or Edwardian side chair made from a light-toned hardwood, possibly beech or oak, featuring a slat-back with two horizontal rails, turned front legs and stretchers, and a hand-woven cane seat. The third item is a set of three-tier library steps or a small graduated display shelf of simple plank construction with decoratively shaped side supports, finished in a dark reddish-brown stain to resemble mahogany. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on any of the items.
