Lot 948: Heubs, A Painted Folk Art Folding Table and a Framed Heraldic Document (Signed)
This lot comprises two distinct items. The first is a rectangular wooden panel, serving as a folding table top, decorated with a hand-painted folk art composition. The scene features two stylized birds in profile amidst abstract geometric and linear motifs, rendered in a palette of forest green, terracotta red, and earth brown. The work is signed heubs in the lower right corner of the painted section. The underside is fitted with a black metal folding leg mechanism. The second item is a framed heraldic document, possibly a family name history, featuring a central coat of arms with a shield, helm, and mantling. The crest includes thistles and a Saltire, suggesting Scottish associations. The document includes several columns of descriptive text and is embellished with a gold-tone seal and a red ribbon. It is presented in a dark wood frame with a gold-tone inner slip, currently wrapped in protective plastic. A Liskeard Auction Rooms label for Lot 948 is attached to the edge of the table.
