Lot 965: A Jacobean Revival Quartersawn Oak Gateleg Table
An early 20th-century quartersawn oak gateleg drop-leaf table in the Jacobean Revival style, likely dating from the 1920s or 1930s. The table features a central fixed section flanked by two drop leaves, each finished with a decoratively scalloped pie-crust edge. The oak surfaces display the prominent medullary ray flakes characteristic of tiger oak. The base is constructed with six barley-twist legs, also known as solomonic columns, which are joined by matching barley-twist stretchers. A gateleg mechanism is used to support the leaves when extended. A white auction lot sticker numbered 965 is affixed to the top, along with small pink inventory stickers. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the piece.
