Lot 974: Two rectangular wall mirrors in ornate gilt and black frames
This lot comprises two rectangular wall mirrors of differing proportions and decorative styles. The larger mirror is set within a wide composite frame featuring a black-painted ground with raised gilded relief-work depicting scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf patterns, finished with a beaded inner slip. The smaller mirror is housed in a gilded frame with a continuous moulded rope-twist or gadrooned border. Both pieces are fitted with flat mirror plates and are characteristic of late 19th to mid-20th-century British decorative items.
