Lot 1011: Early 20th Century Mahogany Twin-Pedestal Desk with Leather Inset Top
A mahogany and mahogany veneered twin-pedestal desk in the Georgian Revival style. The rectangular top features an inset maroon leather writing surface surrounded by a crossbanded mahogany border. The drawer configuration consists of three frieze drawers above two pedestals, each containing three graduated drawers. The drawer fronts are finished with figured mahogany veneers and crossbanded edges. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of brass swan-neck handles on shaped backplates and an inset brass escutcheon. The entire piece is supported on eight shaped bracket feet. The desk shows no visible maker’s marks or stamps. A white sticker with the number 1011 is present on the top edge, and a small pink circular sticker with the number 32 is on a drawer front.
