Lot 702: A Victorian-Style Cobalt Blue and Gilt Porcelain Dessert Service
A porcelain dessert service in the Victorian style, featuring a rich cobalt blue and gilt decorative scheme. The service comprises approximately 11 dessert plates and three footed comports of varying heights. Each piece is decorated with a broad cobalt blue border overlaid with a continuous gilded interlocking loop pattern. The white centres display various multi-coloured floral bouquets, including roses and daisies, which appear to be transfer-printed with hand-painted enamel highlights. The circular plates feature slightly scalloped rims, and the pedestal bases of the comports are finished with hand-applied gilding. No factory marks or backstamps are visible on the pieces.
