This collection features an assortment of natural history specimens and marine-themed items. The lot includes numerous natural scallop shells belonging to the Pecten genus, showing natural variations in colour from cream to reddish-brown. These specimens are of the type frequently used as baking shells or for coastal crafts. Accompanying these is a large, cleaned crab carapace, identified as likely belonging to the edible crab species Cancer pagurus. Decorative elements include a large fish-shaped tray or basket constructed from woven wicker and a small rectangular box with a hinged lid, finished with a variety of small encrusted gastropod and bivalve seashells. A large purple pillar candle, still within its original plastic packaging, is also included. Labels from Liskeard Auction Rooms are present on several items, identifying this as Lot 864.
Fish-shaped wicker basket: 50-60cm length.
