Lot 927: A Chinoiserie Style Red Lacquered Toleware Flower Horn
A Chinoiserie-style toleware horn, of a form traditionally associated with early phonograph speakers or decorative wall pockets. The piece features a hexagonal body that flares into a six-petal scalloped rim. The exterior is finished in a deep red lacquer, decorated with hand-painted gold-tone rose blooms, buds, and thorny foliage. The interior is also finished in red lacquer and contains a coiled metal tension spring fixed at the base. The construction consists of joined metal panels. The item bears a Liskeard Auction Rooms lot label for Lot 927 and a secondary torn paper label with the handwritten digits 9492. No maker marks are visible.
