Lot 1000: After Georges Lepape (French, 1887-1971), A Collection of Framed Artworks (Signed)
A collection of framed artworks comprising an assortment of prints and a watercolour. The group is headlined by a reproduction print after a Vogue magazine cover by Georges Lepape (French, 1887-1971), featuring a stylized portrait of a woman’s face alongside a theatrical mask. The print is inscribed VOGUE at the upper edge and INCLUDING SPECIAL BEAUTY ARTICLES at the lower edge, with a facsimile signature Lepape in the upper right of the image area. It is presented in a deep red mount and a narrow gilt frame. Also included in the collection is a landscape watercolour on paper depicting a multi-arched bridge over a body of water in a muted palette of mauves and greys, set in a light-coloured mount and a gilt frame. The lot further contains several large-scale decorative botanical prints with a textured, impasto-like finish, depicting floral subjects such as calla lilies, housed in matching wide gilt frames. One frame bears a paper auction lot label numbered 1000.
