Lot 1018: A 20th Century Jacobean Style Oak Bureau Bookcase
A 20th-century Jacobean-style oak bureau bookcase of typical British manufacture. The piece is constructed in two sections. The upper section features twin doors with leaded glass panes that open to an interior containing adjustable shelves. The lower section consists of a fall-front desk opening to reveal a fitted interior with various pigeonholes, a central small cupboard, and a faux-leather writing surface. Below the desk are two long drawers dressed with decorative brass drop handles. The entire unit is raised on four bulbous turned legs joined by a floor-level perimeter stretcher. The piece is constructed from oak with characteristic heavy graining and is finished in a dark stain. No maker’s labels or marks are visible.
