Lot 240: An Assortment of Household Containers including a Painted Metal Coal Scuttle and a Stoneware Crock
This lot comprises an assortment of household containers and associated items. Included is a vintage helmet-style coal scuttle fabricated from sheet metal with a black-painted finish. It features a heavy-gauge cast brass main handle secured by decorative fleur-de-lis style mounts and a secondary articulated brass lifting handle at the rear. Inside the scuttle is a small rectangular wooden frame housing a sepia-toned landscape print. The lot further includes a salt-glazed stoneware storage crock featuring an applied circular relief-molded medallion depicting a stylized tree, a motif consistent with the Tree of Life mark used by Pearson and Co. of Chesterfield. The crock is nested inside a standard aluminium utility pail.
