Lot 280: A Collection of Vintage and Modern Toys including Mettype Junior Typewriter and Corgi Die-cast Vehicles
This lot comprises a group of vintage and modern toys. The collection features a Mettype Junior toy typewriter constructed from lithographed tinplate in red and blue with a yellow letter-selection dial. Die-cast vehicles include a Corgi London Transport Silver Jubilee Bus (Ref. 471) in its original blue and white window box, and two Mercedes Benz 500 SL models (one blue and one red) in their original yellow and red window boxes. Also present is an Auldey Race-Tin radio-controlled racing car in red with 10 Intrepid and Supra Oils livery, accompanied by a James Bond 007 branded handheld remote controller. The lot further includes a collection of plastic toy soldiers in various colours including green, tan, and grey, along with a small plastic tank and boat. A large-scale grey plastic sports car model completes the group.
Condition report:
Items are in mixed, play-worn condition. The Mettype typewriter shows signs of age with surface wear and oxidation to the tinplate. Boxed die-cast items exhibit shelf wear, including scuffing and some crushing to the cardboard and plastic window panels. The toy soldiers are loose and mixed together. The remote controller is mismatched in branding to the radio-controlled car. Functional mechanisms for the typewriter and electronic components for the racing car remain untested.
