Lot 284: A Herbert Terry Anglepoise Type 90 Adjustable Desk Lamp
A vintage Herbert Terry and Sons Anglepoise Type 90 adjustable desk lamp. The lamp is constructed from metal with a cream painted finish, featuring a conical trumpet-shaped shade and a multi-jointed arm balanced by three tension springs. The mechanism is mounted on a circular weighted base. The lamp bears two handwritten labels identifying it as a Vintage Herbert Terry Anglepoise Type 90 Lamp and carries an HCP Auctions South West lot sticker numbered 284. The black electrical cord has been cut and the item is currently non-functional.
Condition report:
The lamp shows significant signs of age and use. The circular base exhibits extensive surface corrosion, pitting, and rust-coloured spotting. There are minor scuffs and marks to the painted finish on the arms and shade. The spring-balance mechanism appears intact. The power cord is severed and the lamp requires a full professional rewire.
