Lot 287: An Assortment of Vintage Bayko Building Set Components and Instructions
This is a vintage Bayko building toy set collection, a brand originally manufactured by Plimpton Engineering Co. Ltd. in Liverpool. The collection consists of various structural and decorative elements made from early plastic resins and polystyrene. Included are multiple green rectangular baseplates featuring a grid of holes designed to receive structural metal rods. The set features a large volume of red and white building bricks and wall sections, encompassing flat, curved, and arched designs. Several large red ribbed plastic roof sections are present. The lot also includes various window and door frames in green, red, and white, currently organised into several repurposed metal tins. A collection of metal rods and small metal connectors are also housed within these tins. A white conical plastic piece is included. The set is accompanied by a heavily worn instruction booklet titled BAYKO The Original Plastic BUILDING SETS.
Condition report:
The set is in used, vintage condition. Plastic components exhibit surface wear, dust, and minor age-related discolouration. Metal rods and connectors show some surface oxidation. The instruction booklet is in poor to fair condition with significant fraying, creasing, and staining to the paper. The components are housed in a non-original cardboard outer box and several repurposed vintage metal confectionery and tobacco tins. This is a composite lot and overall completeness has not been verified.
