Lot 339: Two storage items comprising a Marks & Spencer wicker picnic hamper and a vintage-style black vanity case
This lot comprises two storage items. The first is a contemporary Marks & Spencer (M&S) picnic hamper of rectangular form with a hinged lid. It is constructed from dark-stained woven willow and features dark brown straps and a central top carrying handle. The leather closure tab is embossed with the characters M&S and EST. 1884, fitted with a brass-tone turn-lock clasp. The lid is secured at the rear with two straps and brass-tone buckles. The second item is a mid-20th-century style hard-sided vanity case with a black textured synthetic exterior and a single top handle. The interior is lined with pale beige gathered fabric and features a rectangular mirror mounted to the underside of the lid alongside elasticated interior pockets. A silver-tone metal latch is present to the front; no key is provided. A small auction label numbered 339 is affixed to the exterior.
Condition report:
The Marks & Spencer hamper is in good used condition with minor surface wear to the wicker. The vanity case shows signs of age and previous use, including wear to the handle and metal hardware. The interior fabric lining is intact with light marks.
