Lot 415: A Collection of Victorian Style Silver-Plated Tea and Coffee Wares
A collection of silver-plated tea and coffee service items designed in a traditional Victorian style. The group includes a tall coffee or hot water pot, a teapot, a sugar bowl, and a cream jug. Both pots are designed with scrolled handles featuring black composite heat insulators, curved spouts, and domed hinged lids topped with small finials. The sugar bowl features an ornamental pierced lattice-work rim and stands on three stylized feet. The cream jug has a scrolled handle and is similarly supported by three feet. The items are constructed from silver-plated base metal, with the heavy, uneven tarnish being consistent with silver plate or Britannia metal. No maker’s marks, assay marks, or hallmarks are visible on the exterior of the vessels.
Condition report:
The items are in a heavily tarnished state and will require professional cleaning. There is significant surface oxidation and accumulated grime throughout, particularly evident on the interior of the sugar bowl. No major structural damage, significant dents, or repairs were observed during inspection, although the surface condition is heavily obscured by tarnish.
